Are You on The Path to Success? Ask Yourself These 6 Questions
The path to success is not always an easy one. This is why it is important to evaluate the overall performance of your franchise. While evaluating your business monthly and even weekly is beneficial, another time to look at the big picture of your business is quarterly. At the end of the quarter, you’re able to see a large portion of your business’s progress for the year.
Quarters run January 1 – March 31, April 1 – June 30, July 1 – September 30, and October 1 – December 31. These are 4 major opportunities to take data such as your revenue, customer feedback, number of accounts, region inspections, and more to stay on your current path to success or pivot to get on that path you want to be on.
Here are 6 questions to ask yourself and honestly answer when evaluating the quarter.
- What are your wins? Wins are the successes you have had in your business over a certain period of time! Make a list of all of the positives and be sure to share them with your team. Show your employees, your partner, your brand manager, etc. and BE PROUD of what you have accomplished! Take those wins and capitalize on them. Use them as motivation to continue to bring your business to the next level.
- What are your gaps & how can you improve? What are your gaps and where are your opportunities? Gaps are areas of weaknesses or shortfalls identified in your business that cause growth stagnation. Do not view gaps as failures but rather as an area where growth can take place. Be it frequent communication with clients, handling a client complaint, making sales calls, asking a client to be a referral, pretty much anywhere in your business where you are not taking full advantage of opportunities. Opportunities lie in every aspect of your business it is your responsibility to identify them and take action! Use your gaps to catapult your growth by using each one as a learning/growth opportunity. As a Franchise Owner you should constantly be reviewing your business for gaps where opportunity exists and seeking out the resources to increase your knowledge and ability to succeed.
- Did you reach the revenue goals you set for yourself? As a Franchise Owner, you should set revenue goals for the year. What do you need to earn in order to feel successful in this business? Maybe you want to become financially free and work for yourself. Maybe you’re saving up to take your family on a trip or pay for your child’s tuition. Evaluate that need, set a goal for each quarter, and work with your Regional Office on the amount of business you need in order to reach that goal. Provide quality service to those accounts and continue to watch your business thrive.
- Are you doing what is necessary to be successful? When you became a Jani-King Franchise Owner, you joined a company that has a proven system that has been followed time and time again by successful franchise owners. Are you committed to the Brand and following the systems? Communication with customers, performing inspections, turning in proper paper work on time, increasing your industry knowledge, using commercial grade equipment and chemical, managing your employees, showing up on time or early to appointments/cleans, dressing professionally, sell extra work/one-time work/monthly contracts, and leaning on your regional office for support.
- Are your customers happy with your work? Customer feedback is one of the most important things in your business. When you build relationships with your customers, it can not only lead to more opportunities but it helps you keep that current business. Make sure you’re handling customer complaints in a timely manner, avoid improper cleaning and train your staff to do the same. Take your time with an account to assure the quality of clean is something you can be proud of! You are not only a representation of Jani-King but your own business! If you lost an account, what can you do to avoid that next time? Communication is key throughout the entirety of your business. You won’t be successful without it.
- Do you have the resources necessary to be successful? Maybe in order to reach your goals for the year, you need more employees or a way to better manage them. Maybe it is more sales training to get your own business and avoid finder’s fees. It could be that you need replacement or more equipment. Make a list of the resources your need, and see what is available to you through your Regional Support Office!
